The department has four research environments: Child Studies, Gender Studies, Technology and Social Change, and Environmental Change. There are researchers in these environments with a background in specific disciplines and researchers with an interdisciplinary background.
The four environments are thus heterogeneous in terms of researchers' scientific backgrounds and areas of expertise. At the same time they are focused through a shared area of study, which provides the name for each environment.
