How children´s pictures are used in society

To examine in what way children´s pictures are used in society. By looking at different art competitions for children,  it is possible to see continuity and change over time in what pictures children make, and which ones of the pictures are selected by the jury´s. What ideas and ideals of the nation, society and of childhood can you see? Is the ideals of the children consistent with the ideals of the jury´s? What changes in art education and curricula is shown (or not shown) in the pictures? The reserch is made possible very much  through the Swedish Children´s picture Archive in Eskilstuna, which consists of over 600.000 children´s pictures from late 1800th century until today.
