Dr. Linnea Bodén, Department of Child and Youth Studies, Stockholm University

With a background in gender studies, sociology and pedagogy, her thesis in pedagogic practices from 2016 combines an interest in entangling theoretical explorations and empirical engagements. In the thesis, she investigates how school absenteeism as a material-discursive phenomenon is produced in the practices of humans and nonhumans, when absences and presences are registered and managed through digital technologies.

Professor Akira Takada, Centre of African Studies, Kyoto University

Since the late 1990s Professor Akira Takada has worked on different themes among San, who are known as the hunter-gatherers of Southern Africa: 1. Caregiver-child interaction, 2. The system of caregiver-child interaction, subsistence activity, and the natural environment, 3. Environmental perception, and 4. The transformation of ethnicity among San and their neighbours. Furthermore, integrating these themes, Professor Akira Takada aims to elucidate the cultural structure that organizes social interactions among San.

Professor Spyros Spyrou, European University of Cyprus Centre for the Study of childhood and Adolescence, University of Cyprus

Spyrou´s research interests revolve around the anthropology of childhood with a particular focus on issues if identity construction. Over the years, he has directed a number of research projects of both local and international scope covering research areas such as nationalism and national identities, immigration and racism, single-parenthood, poverty and social exclusion, and children´s participation in decision-making. Spyrou is editor for the international journal Childhood

Professor René van der Veer, Department of Education and Child Studies, Leiden University

Professor René van der Veer´s research interests are within the history of developmental psychology and education and he has written, edited and translated books in these fields. Main expertise lies in so-called Russian cultural-historical psychology (e.g., Vygotsky, Luria) but he also takes an interest in attachments theory (Bowlby, Ainsworth) and childcare advice in different cultures and historical periods.

Professor Peter Kraftl School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Birmingham

Professor Peter Kraftl is best known for his research on children’s geographies, and especially for research into the emotions, affects, materialties and practices that make up their everyday lives. He has published extensively on geographies of education and architecture. He is currently an Editor of the journals Area and Children’s Geographies.

Dr. Michael Forrester, School of Psychology, University of Kent

Dr. Michael Forrester´s primary research interests are in child development and language, and psychoanalysis and psychotherapy. The conceptual framework, which informs his work, derives for the most part, from pragmatics and in particular conversation analysis. However, he also has interests in discursive psychology, psychoanalysis and in the development of qualitative methods.
