Graduate education at the Department of Thematic Studies - Technology and Social Change (tema T) is organized as a four year full-time programme. The period may be prolonged to last up to five years, if the student works as an assistant, for an average of up to 20% each year. Such assistantship normally involves teaching at undergraduate level and administrative tasks. The doctoral student is paid a salary (“doktorandtjänst”) during the entire programme.
Graduate studies starts with a period of basic courses which give an overview of the research field of tema T. Doctoral students within the Energy System Programme also take courses organized within that programme. Students may also take courses organized by the department of Thematic Studies, courses at other departments or universities, and individual reading courses. Tema T has a broad national and international network and encourages studies and visits at universities abroad.
