Algo-humanic recalibration in counting and accounting

Seminar - P6: Body, Knowledge, Subjectivity
This week we will discuss Lotta Björklund Larsen's text. This paper addresses what we call the algo-humanic recalibration in counting and accounting. Studying the recalibration is a way to understand what aspects are considered when, on the one hand, trusting the results that algorithms produce and, on the other, the decisions when ‘human’, tacit, knowledge takes over. Drawing on two very different empirical fields – quantified self technology and digital samples of taxpayers for audit – we aim to raise the gaze from the empirical specificities to propose more general insights about the practices and processes involved when choosing between results from counting and accounting calculations and the human experience/knowledge.
